Spring Social Rewind
We want to send a big "Thank You" to all the brave players that came out on a rather gloomy Sunday at the end of April to enjoy our Spring Social at MPC. Despite a late start due to uncooperative weather, we got everything going around noon after some serious squeegeeing, blowing, and toweling work. MPC turned out to be a great venue and we look forward to holding more events there. Keep an eye out for our next event coming this summer. For now, enjoy the attached pictures. Feel free to contact us if you would like to share any feedback or suggestions about this event or future events.

At MBPC, we make every effort to provide free pickleball opportunities because it seems everyone is trying to cash in on pickleball these days. It costs the club about $500 to put on these socials. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we rely on donations for our funding. The best way you can help support the club is to become a member if you are not already. It's only $20/year. We very much appreciate additional donations if you have the means and would like to further support the club.
Carmel Pickleball Update
Update 5/13/2025 : The meeting is not yet scheduled due to other high priority items facing the City Council. It's possible that they may schedule a special session just to address this issue. In the mean time, please reach out to members of the council members to voice your support for Carmel pickleball. See more info below.

At its March 13, 2025 meeting, the city of Carmel's Forest and Beach Commission decided to impose stricter limits on pickleball at Forest Hill Park. They voted in favor of a staff recommendation to limit play to 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and to remove two of the pickleball courts entirely. Additionally, the commission is advocating for updates to the city code that would allow Carmel police to issue citations to individuals playing outside these designated hours.
This proposal will now move to the city council for final approval. The exact date of the council meeting has not yet been determined, but updates will be shared as soon as the information becomes available. The City Council meets the first Monday and Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. (with the exception of Holidays) in the Council Chamber of Carmel City Hall located on the east side of Monte Verde Street between Ocean and 7th Avenues.

In the meantime, here are the email addresses of the the council members in case you would like to express your concern over the Forest and Beach Commission recommendation.

In all likelihood, this will be our last opportunity to maintain pickleball at Forest Hill park.

New Club Logo and Merchandise
To bolster our club's identity, we have adopted a new logo and refreshed our website design. We are also commissioning merchandise featuring the logo. The first item is a stylish hat, perfect for playing on the courts.
We also have pickleball bag tags featuring the logo. The bag tags can be customized with your name and phone number. These are available for free exclusively to club members. To check your membership status, login and go to the My Subscriptions page in your profile.

Be sure to attend our next social event to see these new items in person. Pre-orders are available now.
New Courts Coming
There are a variety of court projects in progress around the peninsula. Check back here soon for more details.

Ryan Ranch Funds
Monterey Bay Pickleball Club raised a total of $15,331 to donate to the city of Monterey for the construction of new courts at Ryan Ranch Park. This fundraising initiative began several years ago after members of the NCIP commission indicated a need for private funding. The City Council eventually approved $200,000 for these courts but then reversed course and pulled the funding. As a result, construction of courts at Ryan Ranch Park was never pursued. The MBPC Board is considering other ways to use these funds to support the local pickleball community, as outlined in our contingency plans.

Please reach out to the Board if you have suggestions on how these funds could be used to benefit pickleball in our area.
